The Lewes History Group is a volunteer-led group of enthusiasts who have an active interest in the history of Lewes and its immediate surroundings.

We started the group in 2009 to study and record the history of Lewes, and to make the history of the county town accessible to the local community, and to others who share our interest.

We have an annual programme of public talks,  and produce a monthly Bulletin. We encourage members to carry out their own research projects, or participate in group undertakings, and support them with research meetings to review progress and develop expertise. Our website gives members access to research resources and links to useful organisations.

Normally, we hold our public talks, or meetings, on the second Monday of each month. During the summer months (April to October) we hold our meetings at the King’s Church, Brooks Road, Lewes BN7 2BY, and in the winter, we hold the talks on Zoom.

Everyone is welcome at our talks, but to enjoy access to our full range of activities, we would encourage you to become a member of the Group. Members also benefit from free entry to our Zoom talks.
