Mary Norris: The War Memorials of St John-sub-Castro Church, Lewes
The 100th anniversary of the dedication of the World War 1 War Memorial at St John sub Castro church occurs on 2 November 2021. At this time of Remembrance, this talk is a timely look at the lives of some of the people from the parish who died in the defence of this country, and whose names are inscribed on the Memorial.
We will also look at some of those who lost their lives during World War 2. The 75th anniversary of the dedication of the World War 2 Memorial at St John’s church occurs next year.
The stories told will include those of James Eades, Charles Robert Pinyoun, Cecil Reginald Briggs, and Henry Connett who died during WW1, and Robert William Ruby Kemp, Joseph Pasquale, and Betty James who died during WW2.
