The talks
Christopher will introduce us to the story of this ancient church. St Anne’s has been adapted to changing ways of worshipping but still ancient fabric survives. During his talk, Christopher will use a light to point out the features of the church that he is discussing.
Sue will follow with the story of the development of the parish of St Anne’s as a suburb which includes some interesting buildings as well as being the location for part of the Battle of Lewes in 1264 when Simon de Montfort led rebel barons in a battle with Henry III and his son Edward who became Edward I in 1272.
