Lewes History Group Quiz, Monday 12 December 2022, 7:20 for 7:30pm start, followed by AGM for Members

A Zoom Webinar

John Kay: Lewes in Living Memory

This will be self-assessed quiz along the same lines as last year’s Christmas Quiz, except that this time we shall be using photographs of the town taken between the 1940s and the 1980s, within the memory of many of our members. It is surprising how much Lewes has changed in that time.

Members will be emailed a free Zoom registration link in advance.

Non-members can buy a ticket (£4) at Ticketsource. The emailed ticket will include a Zoom registration link for the talk, to complete in advance.

The quiz will be followed – after a short gap – by our AGM at 8:45pm, which is for members only.

We will email a separate AGM Zoom link to members. The AGM will be held in the regular Zoom format, so we will all be able to see and hear each other.

County Hall, High Street, Lewes

To join this quiz, you need to
  1) register your intention in advance
  2) receive our confirmation email with a link to the talk
  3) click on that link to attend the talk 10 minutes before it starts

LHG Members can attend our talks for free. We will send members emails with a link to Zoom registration. Then please follow steps 1, 2, and 3 as above.

Non-members can buy a ticket (£4) from TicketSource. The ticket will provide a link to Zoom registration. Then please follow steps 1, 2, and 3 as above.

Please join the webinar at 7:20pm.

We would recommend a computer screen or an iPad as a minimum screen-size for viewing our webinars.

Our presenters will be speaking live, and you can ask questions by typing in the Q&A box in Zoom.

See the Talks page for a list of  forthcoming monthly events organised by the Lewes History Group.

Books for Christmas

If you are looking for Christmas gifts, how about some books about Lewes, published by the Lewes History Group, or by the Friends of Lewes?

These would be ideal for a friend or family member who grew up here but who has moved away, or for a newcomer, who has yet to learn what a truly special place it is.

Lewes History Group has published two new books in the ‘Lewes Street Stories’ series: ‘Mill Road, South Malling’, by Chris Taylor, and ‘Lewes Street Stories: Chapel Hill’ written by Mary Benjamin, Meg Griffiths and Shân Rose.

The Friends of Lewes book list includes Marietta Van Dyck’s latest collection of Lewes drawings, Kim Clark’s The Twittens, and her update of Leslie Davey’s The Street Names of Lewes. The Friends are offering seasonal discounts to their members: see details.
