Lewes History Group

The Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) is Britain’s major voluntary adult education organisation. It provides high quality learning opportunities for people of all ages who wish to continue studying throughout their lives through weekday courses and Saturday half-day schools.

The classes, given by professional lecturers at venues in Lewes, cover a wide variety of subjects, offering participants the chance to acquire new knowledge and to meet others with similar interests.

The WEA Local History Programme 2013-2014 includes a course on:

SUSSEX AT WAR: Our dramatic history from Roman times, the Armada and Napoleonic wars to the 20th century. Tutor: Jennifer Goldsmith.
10 sessions on Thursdays 2-4pm starting 26th September 2013 at the Friends Meeting House, Friars Walk, Lewes BN7 2LE. Fee £79.

The Lewes History Group has been formulating a research funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, and will be holding a meeting for those who have so far indicated that they would like to take part in the project, and for anyone who would like to consider joining us.

The purpose of the meeting is to:

• provide a progress report on the submission of the HLF application
• to hear about activities in your own areas
• to consider the topics you would like to investigate
