Peter Gillies: A Meander through the Victorian Weald – magic lantern show

Peter Gillies who describes himself as a collector of magic lanterns, old magic lantern slides from all over Sussex and other optical toys. He will be presenting a magic lantern show entitled  ‘A Meander through the Victorian Weald’, using a real Victorian magic lantern (now powered by electricity) and the sort of slides shown at Lewes entertainments over a century ago. This will be an interactive event, so be prepared for “Do you recognise where this was taken?”. Peter’s particular interests include the transport of the day and Sussex windmills (though he is still hoping his audiences will identify some of the windmills for him). He comes to us highly recommended.

Venue: The new King’s Church building on Brooks Road, Lewes. (Between Tesco car park and Homebase)

See the Meetings page for a list of  forthcoming monthly talks organised by the Lewes History Group.
