2014 marks the 70th anniversary of the the D-day landings and a great day out is planned at Michelham Priory with fun from the 40’s, music and dancing from “Viv the Spiv”, trail in the ground, World War 2 wartime artefacts, food, and vehicles.
Commemorate this historic date with a tour at Michelham Priory.
This not an exclusive day for Lewes History Group members and the Priory will be open to all at 10.30 am until 5.00 pm.
Admission is by ticket: group bookings of 15 or more will allow tickets to be £6.50 for adults and £3.75 for children. (Free admission for Sussex Past members, Friends of Michelham Priory, or members of the Historic Houses Association. Reduced admission for English Heritage members.)
Tickets are available for this and other LHG outings from Paul Waller (Outings Organiser) on meeting nights at The King’s Church in Lewes, by contacting him on 01323 872088, or by using the contact form below.
It is essential that you book well in advance for these trips
The outings are primarily for Lewes History Group members only, but they may purchase tickets for accompanying non-members. When possible tours will be exclusively for LHG.
All members are asked to make their own way to the venue in good time. Regrettably we are not able to to arrange transportation for these trips.
However we could arrange a bus hire from Cuckmere Bus who have a sixteen seater vehicle which picks up and returns to Berwick Station. Trains to Berwick from Lewes leave at 9 minutes past the hour, taking 11 minutes to reach Berwick. For example the 10.09 arrives at 10.20. Return trains to Lewes are at 18 minutes past the hour. If there is sufficient interest we will investigate the cost of the bus hire.
See the Members’ Visits page for a list of forthcoming monthly trips organised by the Lewes History Group.
