Who Really Found the Iguanodon Tooth? Tuesday 24 February 2015, 7:30pm

Anthony Booth of the West Sussex Geological Society has been carrying out an investigation into whether it was Lewes doctor Gideon Mantell, or his wife Mary Ann Mantell who found the iguanodon’s tooth.

Their marriage was not a happy one, and Anthony wonders if there was an attempt to write Mary out of the history books.

Anthony will outline the various disputed versions provided by Mantell over the years following the original discovery and the naming of the first known dinosaur in the local quarry in mid-Sussex.

More details at the Gideon Mantell Blog.
