Lewes History Group

An internet celebrity who made his name making a television programme about the Battle of Lewes is coming to the town in May.

The Bald Explorer will be on stage at Lewes Old Grammar School on Thursday 1st May. Having spent the day with various groups of students, Richard Vobes will give an evening presentation starting at 7pm. Tickets will be available shortly from the independent school in the High Street, priced at £5 to include refreshments.

Richard, who lives near Worthing, is looking forward to coming to the county of town of East Sussex and says he finds the local history fascinating. His Community Channel shows have aired on satellite TV and helped make history accessible to a huge audience.

Come and enjoy a night at the races. Lewes Racecourse Club are putting on a fund-raising event at the White Hart Hotel, featuring a chance to hear Channel Four commentator Simon Holt commentating the last day’s racing at Lewes.

Proceeds in aid of Lewes Racecourse Club and Lewes Victoria hospital.
