  • The Friends of Lewes
    Aims to stimulate public interest in the beauty, history and character of the town of Lewes and its surrounding area; and to organise concerted action for protecting and enhancing the townscape and for preserving free access to the surrounding area.
  • Lewes Archaeological Group
    Lewes Archaeological Group brings together those interested in archaeology and history in the town of Lewes and the surrounding area.

    A Facebook community for sharing memories, stories, and photos of Lewes.
  • Lewes Priory Trust
    In 2011, the Lewes Priory Trust completed major works of consolidation and enhancement to realize the full potential of The Priory of St Pancras in Southover, Lewes, as a site of immense cultural, historic, educational and tourist importance, and to allow free access for all.
  • Lewes Racecourse History
    Lewes was known for its horse racing for over 200 years. There are two organisations studying the history of Lewes race course:

  • Sussex Archaeological Society
    In addition to opening historic properties and museums to the public, Sussex Past is active in the fields of archaeological and historical research in Sussex.
  • Sussex Family History Group
    The aims of the SFHG include promoting the study of genealogy and family history, and encouraging the preservation, transcription and publication of relevant documents and records.
  • Sussex Heritage Trust
    Established in 1977 to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural heritage of Sussex.
  • Sussex Mililtary History Society
    SMHS has been interpreting the county’s military past since 1998, undertaking archaeological surveys, heritage tours, and monthly meetings in Lewes.
  • Sussex Online Parish Clerks
    Historical data on parishes. With a strong focus on genealogical information, the Sussex site also aims to include any historical information relating to Sussex.
  • Sussex Record Society
    Local history group offering research publications and online databases covering the history of Sussex from 1066 to World War I.
