Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public, or charge for admission.
The Lewes event includes free access to 13 buildings and five different bookable walks in different parts of the town’s conservation area. In addition, the Baxters Field open space has embraced the national Heritage Open Days theme of ‘Edible England’ by providing samples of autumn fruits and berries, and tours to learn about edible and poisonous plants.
There is a range of guided walks and tours, and for some, advance booking is essential.
Booking opens on 9 August and closes the day before the event.
An opportunity not to be missed!
