The Lewes History Group has organised a private tour of Bridge Cottage, Uckfield which has just opened after 3 years of restoration.
This outing is for members (plus 1 guest) only.
On the tour, you’ll be able to find out how Bridge Cottage, this newly restored medieval Wealden hall house in Uckfield, has changed over 580 years. Mick Harker will talk about the history of the building, its occupants and the challenges of rescuing and conserving this 15th Century gem.
The talk begins at 7.00pm followed by a tour of the house.
Advance booking essential as places are limited. Email leweshistory [at] gmail.com by 15th August with ‘Bridge Cottage’ in the subject. (Very few places left)
Bridge Cottage is next to the river bridge on Uckfield High St, opposite the station. It’s clearly seen on Google Streetview, though the picture is some months old and shows the building still under restoration.
You need to make your own way there & parking is free nearby.
Entry £4 (pay on door)
Thanks to Jane Lee for organising this outing.
