Henry Adams, gentleman, cordially invites you to join him at the recently completed No.1 Brunswick Terrace, to partake in an ‘Elegant Entertainment.’

Listen as he engages with you in refined and agreeable conversation about the splendid seaside town of Brighton. Hear about its wonderful attractions, such as the Baths,
the Maze and the magnificent Chain Pier.

Principally Mr Adams will prepare you for the most fashionable of balls in the town by guiding you through the steps of some of the most simple of dances and, in doing so, bring your dancing to perfection. Mrs.Heyrick will be accompanying the dances exquisitely on her recorder.

Do not be concerned yourself if you have not engaged in this recreation before as
Mr Adams will be your very trusted guide and ensure pleasure is received by all.

Regency Delights offer improvised role play, interacting with and responding to the public in the first person, allowing the audience to gain a thought-provoking and entertaining insight into The Georgian Period.

They will be performing at No.1 Brunswick Terrace on the following dates: Wednesday 6th May, Saturday 9th May, Wednesday 13th May and 20th May. Twice nightly 45 minute dance instruction at either 6.30pm or 8.00pm.

A range of genteel libations will be available at the Regency Salon bar. A ‘Mr. Darcy’ cocktail included in the price.

All are welcome to join the WI at their annual visit day to Lewes Priory.

The day’s programme will include:

• A talk on Lewes History by Marcus Taylor;
• Two short films about Lewes Priory;
• Craft activities lead by Lewes Priory’s Education Officers, Helen Chiasson and Kate Hickmott;
• An introduction to the Cluny UK Embroidery project attended by the Mayor and Mayoress;
• A talk on the new gardens at Anne of Cleves by Martin Pett;
• A tour of  Anne of Cleves’ garden.

The cost for the day is £15. No registration necessary, just turn up!

Refreshments will be served throughout the day.  Attendees will need to bring their own lunch.

The venue is Southover Church, Cockshut Road, Lewes BN7 1JH.

Jonathan Sygrave: Whitehawk Hill Excavations 

Jon is a Project Manager at Archaeology South-East. He will talk about the excavation in the summer of 2014 at Whitehawk Hill, Brighton and the collection of objects excavated from the site in the 1920s and 1930s.

The neolithic causewayed enclosure at Whitehawk Hill is a rare type of ritual monument predating Stonehenge by around 500 years and marks the emergence of Britain’s first farming communities

Venue: Lecture Room, Lewes Town Hall (Fisher Street entrance, lift access available)

Entrance (including tea or coffee) is LAG members: £3 (£2 concessions);
non-members: £4 (£3 concessions).
