Leader: Andy Robertshaw
This is a visit to a recreation (near Gatwick) of a section of trenches at Railway Wood, Hooge, near Ypres based on the 1917 trench map. These were built as experimental archaeology for the book ’24 hour Trench’ and have been used by photographers, film makers and visitors since 2011.
There will be hot drinks and an introductory talk on arrival, followed by a guided tour and the opportunity to talk those involved in the project. Afterwards you will be free to wander around the site.
